1. What is the purpose of Mercury POS system?

Mercury POS system electronically records Fuel Ticket transactions and communicates

those to Mercury electronically on the same day thus eliminating the need for sending

paper tickets. This makes the process efficient and more accurate and automatic.

 

2. Who would use the Mercury POS application?

This application is designed for the FBO personnel to do Fuel Ticket entry.

 

3. What are the basic system requirements to install the Mercury-POS application at

the FBO?

The basic system requirement to install Mercury-POS application is:

Ø      PC with windows 2000/XP operating system

Ø      Internet explorer version 5.x and above

Ø      Processor – Pentium III, 750 MHz and above

Ø      Physical Memory – 128 MB

Ø      Free hard disk space – 40 MB

 

4. What type of external hardware does the Mercury-POS system needs?

No additional hardware is required for Mercury POS system operation. A printer is

optional if the Fuel ticket would be printed from this application..

 

5. What is the technology used for Mercury-POS application?

Microsoft Access database is used for Mercury-POS application for its simplicity of use

and availability across all sizes and types of the FBOs.

 

6. What are the necessary steps to install Mercury-POS application on any machine for

the very first time?

Please refer to the installation process user guide for detailed steps to be followed for

installing the Mercury-POS system.

 

7. Is it necessary to install SOAP SDK tool every time with Mercury-POS application?

This SOAP SDK tool needs to be installed along with the Mercury-POS application when

the application is installed on any machine for the very first time.

 

8. Is this a multi-user system?

The system can be installed on multiple machines. However it does not support a

network based installation at this time. The program is only designed for standalone

installation. Multiple installations can be done to conduct transactions from multiple

stations if desired.

 

9. What are the basic settings in the Mercury-POS application which are must?

Please refer the Installation process user guide for the basic setup after the

application is installed on the machine.

 

10. What will happen if the mercfuel.com fuel order system is down?

The system generates Help Messages and prompt the users to call Mercury support line

for transaction authorizations. Refer to the Operating instruction manual for details.

 

11. What will happen to the transactions in process if the internet gets disconnected?

Mercury-POS application will store the data in MS Access database. Once the

connection is established, the system will transmit the data to Mercury.

 

12. Is it possible to make a change in the already processed transaction using POS

system?

Yes. Any fuel ticket which is already processed can be changed using the Mercury-POS

system. Please refer to the Operating instruction manual for details.

 

13. What are the standard reports generated using the Mercury-POS system?

14. Can the Mercury-POS system be integrated with any other system used at FBO

location such as FBO Manager?

Yes. The Mercury-POS system is defined with open architecture and integration APIs. It

can be integrated with the other POS systems at the FBOs. Currently, the system is

designed to integrate with FBO manager application in a limited fashion. Other

integrations can be performed as desired.

 

15. Does Mercury-POS system have the capability to integrate with Credit card readers?

Mercury-POS application is capable of working with the smart card readers and smart

cards. However it does not operate with the standard credit cards or other company

account cards.

 

16. Is transaction data stored at FBO and data in transmission secured?

The data security is limited for the application as it is not financially sensitive data.

 

17. How do I view the transaction that I entered?

In Mercury-POS, user clicks on “Search” button, and provides any of the valid search

criteria that includes Fuel Ticket number, Tail Number, Customer Name, Transaction

date (Transaction date is mandatory field) and click “Search” button. Fuel Tickets that

match given search criteria are displayed in the table. User may double click on a Fuel

Ticket displayed in the table to view details.

 

18. What software application do I need to view the transactions?

Transactions are visible within the application window.

 

19. How do I put a short cut on my desk top?

Click “Start” and trace the menu “Programs -> Mercury POS -> Mercury POS”, right click

on “Mercury POS” and click “Send To -> Desktop (create shortcut)”.

 

20. What do I do if the application freezes?

Open “Windows Task Manager” by clicking “Ctrl + Shift + Esc”, select “Processes” tab,

select “Mercury POS.exe” process, and click “End Process”. Restart your computer.

 

21. With the new Mercury POS system do I still need to send a hard copy to Mercury?

Contact Mercury to establish the updated work process. There may not be a need to send

the hard copy once the Mercury POS application is installed and used for all Mercury fuel

tickets.The fuel ticket transactions are stored in a file on the local computer, which can be

printed again if desired.

 

22. Is MS Access installation mandatory to run Mercury-POS application?

Yes. MS Access database is required to run Mercury-POS application.

 

23. If Mercury POS application needs to be reinstalled for version upgrade, what is main

precaution to be taken.

If the application is reinstalled make sure that the database file is backed up before the

install. Then uninstall the old application and install new application. If this precaution is

not taken, old data will get overwritten with the new blank data file.
